1. Downloading Inventory
Looking towards the top left of VehicleWizard on your computer, click on the blue arrow pointing downwards. You will get a new warning window letting you know that beginning a new inventory will result in the loss of all scanned vehicles.
*Note* Please be sure that you are willing to lose your old scans and that there is nothing else you may need to account for.
Click Yes, this will begin downloading your vehicle inventory from your DMS.
2. Synchronizing the Inventory onto the Scanner
The scanner will automatically attempt to synchronize after the download has finished. Once the download status box has completely disappeared, verify that you are good to go by looking in the top right hand corner of VehicleWizard. You should see the Last Host Download and Last Scanner Synchronize date and time. The date and time should match your current date and time.
If Last Scanner Synchronize doesn't match the download date you will run into issues. Simply click on the yellow and black Sync Scanner button located in the top left corner of the VehicleWizard Screen. This will perform a manual synchronization and update the Last Scanner Sync date and time.
3. Starting VehicleWizard on the Scanner
With the Last Scanner Sync and Last Host Download date accurately reflecting your current date and time, you are now ready to begin scanning vehicles. Remove the scanner from the cradle and depending on the scanner that you purchased do the following;
- PPT: 3 button push the scanner by holding down the yellow button located on the side on the scanner, the blue function key and green enter key located on the keypad. Hold all three of these buttons at the same time until your screen flashes and displays PPT8800. You may release the keys now.
*Note* Hold down the yellow button on the side of the scanner, not the yellow alpha key on the front face of the scanner.
- MC55: Hold down the red power button located on the bottom left of the keypad until the screen turns off. It should now turn back on and reboot into VehicleWizard.
- Janam: Hold down the red power button located on the side of the scanner at the very top until you get a menu on the screen with the option of Soft Reset. Click on soft reset and the scanner will turn off and back on, loading into VehicleWizard on startup.
4. Scanning Your Vehicles
With the scanner loaded up with VehicleWizard you are ready to begin scanning your vehicles. The scanner will be able to scan the bar codes in the window or in the door jam. Do this for all the vehicles you would like to inventory.
5. Synchronizing your Scanned Cars into VehicleWizard
When you are finished scanning all your vehicles, place the scanner back in the cradle and click on the yellow sync button in the top left hand corner. This will take all the scans currently located on the scanner and place them in your report tab, allowing you to see what's missing, what's not missing, and any new vehicles that have been added.
6. Viewing Your Vehicle Report
With VehicleWizard open, click the word Report located right below your sync button. You'll be shown a summary page that will display all your scanned vehicles, new and used. On this page you can see how many cars were scanned, how many cars are missing ( the cars that were not scanned) and any new, extra vehicles that haven't been added to your DMS yet.
On the bottom left of your screen, you'll different tabs that you can select in order to change your view. You'll see the options of Summary, All, Missing, Extra, and All Scanned
Summary: Shows you the summary of what you scanned, displays total car inventory found inside your DMS, new and used cars scanned, and new and used cars not scanned.
All: Shows your entire inventory, including vehicles that have and have not been scanned. Red vehicle numbers mean that the vehicle has not been scanned by the scanner, and the green vehicle numbers mean that the vehicle has been scanned by the scanner.
You will also notice on the left hand side even more additional tabs. You can select whether you want to view only new vehicles, only used vehicles, or all vehicles.
Missing: Shows the vehicles that have not been scanned by the scanner. You can select whether you want to view only new vehicles, only used vehicles, or all vehicles by clicking on the appropriate tab located on the left hand side of vehicle wizard.
Extra: New cars not found from your DMS will show up here. You are able to right click the vehicle number and choose the option for "Add to DMS" You will be able to type in vehicle characteristics in the new window that pops up. Clicking Ok will update your DMS with this Vehicle Number.
All Scanned: Shows all vehicles that the scanner was able to scan. You can select whether you want to view only new vehicles, only used vehicles, or all vehicles by clicking on the appropriate tab located on the left hand side of vehicle wizard.
To Upload your vehicles, simply click on the upload button, this will update the last scanned dates, as well as any lot changes for all the vehicles scanned.
